NOT that I would ever force my beloved baby to have the same hobbies as me BUT I'll be pretty surprised if she doesn't like cooking.
I always put her (safely) on the counter to watch me prepare every meal. She loves to smell the spices and learn the names of things (I'm assuming she loves it...she smiles at least), and of course put everything in her mouth. Today, I let her squish the dough that I had rising for the French bread I was baking.
The other day, I was letting her smell a parsnip and she snagged it up and treated it like a toy.
I truly have a problem with putting the baby down to be on her own if I have a way of incorporating her with my activities. I've taken to carrying her around in my Moby wrap while I water the plants; I have her on the bed playing with the different fabrics while I put away the laundry; I'll have her in the kitchen with me when I put away dishes and tell her the names of all the utensils and such. True, she is very hesitant to be away from me now, but I feel if I'm just going to ignore her at home I should just put her in day care and go back to work! I'm going to live up every day with her as much as possible for as long as possible.
And I can't wait for a few years from now when she turns into my mini-sous chef!
